The Late April Edit: Arts, Earth Day, and Community in the 3 Ws

As we move through the back half of April, the 3 Ws are buzzing with a unique Spring Awakening energy! This year, the calendar is particularly rich with cultural milestones and environmental celebrations.

Here are the cannot miss events for your calendar:

1. Theater & Arts: Pulitzer Prize Power in Westport

  • Primary Trust at Westport Country Playhouse (April 16 – May 10): If you haven't booked your tickets yet, now is the time. The Playhouse is currently showing Primary Trust, the 2024 Pulitzer Prize winner. It’s a gentle, powerful story about friendship and the courage to change, perfect for the reflective nature of spring.

  • "Refine the Line" Exhibition: Stop by The Gallery at GFC (71 Hillandale Rd) to see Joe Dermody’s sculptural art. It’s an abstract, multi-disciplinary journey that redefines traditional boundaries.

2. Celebrating the Planet: Earth Day 2026

  • Wilton Earth Day (April 22 & Weekend): Keep an eye out for the Wilton Library’s environmental programming and the Wilton Land Trust’s spring walks. This is the perfect week to explore the Norwalk River Valley Trail (NRVT) as the first buds begin to open.

  • Weston’s Nature Preserve: Devil's Den remains the premier spot for a restorative Earth Day hike. Remember to check their 2026 trail updates, as spring mud season is still in effect for some of the lower loops.

3. Family Fun & Community Markets

  • Westport Spring Market & Home Show (Saturday, April 18, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM): Head over to the Westport Arena area for a massive Spring Market and Home Show. It’s the ultimate one-stop shop for local makers, bakers, and artisans. Whether you’re looking for a gift or a little something to refresh your own home, this is where the community gathers.

  • MoCA Westport’s Art Adventures (Saturdays, April 18 & 25): If you have little ones (ages 4+), MoCA’s Saturday drop-in art classes are a local lifesaver. While they create, you can enjoy the Art, Jazz + The Blues exhibition.

4. Literary & Musical Notes

  • Poetry Month in Wilton (Saturday, April 18, 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM): The Wilton Library is hosting a Words at Play book launch and open mic for local poets. It’s a wonderful opportunity to support our local literary community.

  • MoCA CT Sessions: Don't miss the ECCB Salon Series on Thursday, April 23, for an intimate evening of music and dialogue that bridges the gap between performance and perspective.
